Many hair styles seem to be on trend for this upcoming summer. Messy updos, braids, slicked hair, center parts and natural waves are among the styles that will be popular.  However, there is one style that has been around for a long time that will be the most popular hairstyle this summer. Drumroll… the PIXIE cut. Can you believe that this style is making a comeback? So many stars currently have this haircut already further influencing this trend.

Some of these stars are; Katy Perry, Lily Collins, Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Hough Jennifer Lawrence, and Kate Hudson.  Now, just because these stars are cutting their haircut does not mean that you should too.  But there are many benefits to rocking a short cut in the summer.

Haven’t you always wondered what you would look like with a short hair style?  If you have, now is the perfect time. Warmer weather brings the heat and humidity.  With a cute bob keeping your hair off of your shoulders you will stay more comfortable and cooler.  Straightening and blow drying your hair results in dry and damaged hair. A pixie cut is much easier to style and does not require all of the time with hot tools.  So you will spend less time getting ready and your hair will be healthier!

Here is a list of tips for styling your pixie cut:

  1. Soft Side-Swept Bangs: Use a large round brush and blow dry your bangs off to the side
  2. Use Texture-Adding Products:  There are many gels out there that leave your hair looking sticky and flat.  We recommend a light wax that will leave your hair looking light and shiny.
  3. Add Volume: Adding volume is easy when you have little hair to work with.  Run a volumizer through your hair before you blow dry it. Or flip your head upside down while blow drying for an even more voluminous look.
  4. Change Your Part:  You aren’t stuck to just one hair part, even with short hair.  You can change up your look every day if you want! Try a deep side part, or even slick it back for a super stylish look.

It is always fun to try new things with your hair as long as you keep it healthy!  The pixie cut is definitely a risky style, but the risk is worth taking for Summer 2018.  If you want to change your hairstyle, contact us to schedule your appointment today!
